With so many different people in our jobs, schools and communities it is important to recognize discrimination and celebrate our diversity so that we can enjoy the benefits and not become victims or perpetrators of discrimination in the workplace. This book is about some of the experiences and thoughts of a professional, African American man seeking the American dream and believing he had a right to make a complaint about racial discrimination in the workplace.

Throughout the twentieth century, Chicago developed a reputation as a hotbed of racial struggle. This book investigates the aftermath of the 1919 Chicago race riots in an attempt to shed light on diverse reactions to the worst violence in the city’s history. In the wake of the riots, countless groups pointed fingers, assigned blame, and proposed both long-term and short-term solutions to prevent future racial explosions.

The SHARECROP Companion Guide provides historical context and lesson plans for use with the SHARECROP documentary (Stack Stories LLC 2017). SHARECROP features oral history of ten individuals who were involved in sharecropping during the segregation era. Sometimes called the "forgotten farmers," sharecroppers were vital to American agricultural production prior to mechanized agriculture. Luke Peeples was a South Carolina composer who collected and arranged African American Spirituals. He was an exceptional pianist and some of his compositions were too complicated for the average pianist. This book presents some simplified arrangements of Luke's Spirituals.
